DESIGN
&CO North’s design philosophy embraces warmth, creativity, and community. Drawing inspiration from Hamilton Park’s lush palette, a foundation of earth tones is elevated by creative, bold accents. The design achieves harmony through a thoughtful blend of materials and natural textures—stone, wood, and metal—paired with abundant greenery and natural light. Johnson prioritized the work of independent designers, artists, and local talent to create a space that feels both authentic and inviting.Handcrafted furniture and artisanal details shine throughout, with standout contributions from acclaimed designers Hannah Bigeleisen, Robert Suchrand, HiLo Brooklyn, Juntos Studios, and Celine Wright of Swadoh. The first-floor lobby captures this ethos with striking details, including a six-foot brass ginkgo leaf chandelier and a woven leather tapestry crafted by NYC designers Rosie Li and Brit Kleinman of AVO.
Rooted in its local context, the design celebrates Jersey City’s creative community. Collaborations with Betty’s Ceramic Studio and artist Shamona Stokes produced one-of-a-kind tiles and ceramic fixtures, while Keith Van Pelt contributed custom stained glass works. The personalized art collection features JC-based Elevator Art Studios and Deep Space Art Gallery pieces, showcasing talents like John Tokar, Macaulay Norman, and Stephen Weunsch.
