  • This confidential high-tech firm recently expanded its operations by opening a new research and development office in Ottawa. The challenge was to create a space that would foster collaboration, inspire creativity, and promote employee well-being. Streamline was brought in to help formulate a strategic design for the new space.

The design includes amenities such as a fitness gym, barrier-free changeroom and showers, employee café, and meeting rooms. The fully equipped fitness gym gives employees the opportunity to add movement to their day and improve overall health & well-being. The employee café is a comfortable and inviting space for employees to relax and socialize, while the meeting rooms are designed to be flexible and adaptable to different needs.

The overall design is ambient and modern, with an emphasis on natural lighting and materials. The pentagonal skylight in the lobby is a striking design element that also allows natural light to filter into the space. Natural elements such as wood finishes and organic shapes create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The design encourages a collaborative culture, with a focus on creating a space in which employees can do their best work.

Other elements include open office workstation as well as R&D huddle rooms. The nature of work taking place and the organizational structure informed choices on the type of spaces included in the office. The data-driven design has helped to create an environment that fosters creativity, promotes well-being, and inspires innovation.
