Abel Design Group reimagined the Austin penthouse for a Chicago trading firm, crafting a dynamic workspace that highlights technology and fosters collaboration through innovative design and open, engaging environments.
Abel Design Group was selected to transform the Austin penthouse of a Chicago-based trading and investment firm into a dynamic workspace that celebrates the company’s greatest assets: its people and its technology. As a forward-thinking, tech-driven organization, the executives wanted that same innovation to be reflected throughout the design, most notably by showcasing the firm’s servers in a glass-enclosed IDF room, turning a critical piece of infrastructure into a visual focal point.
Designed to foster connection, collaboration, and creativity, the space features open work areas that strengthen communication between traders, collaborative zones that encourage teamwork, and amenities that cultivate excitement to come to work. The environment was thoughtfully planned to balance high performance with a sense of energy and fun, supporting the firm’s culture and team-oriented approach.
With double-height vaulted ceilings, acoustics played a vital role in shaping the design. The team collaborated closely with an acoustician to minimize sound reverberation while preserving the visual impact and openness of the penthouse ceiling. The result is a forward-thinking, innovative workspace that blends technology, collaboration, and design, creating an inspiring environment where employees and ideas thrive.
